Behavioural factors predisposing children under-fives to diarrhoea in developing countries; a case of migori county, Kenya

Background: Globally, diarrhoea disease is a major cause of morbidity among children under 5 years (under-fives). In Africa, there are 696 million cases of diarrhoea among under-fives every year. Diarrhoea accounted for about 4.7% of outpatient visits among under-fives in Kenya, a common observation in many developing countries. It appears that even with the well drummed up public health and maternal health programs among the developing countries, diarrheal infections continue to be a major challenge in the lives of children under five years.

Influence of motorcycle (Boda boda) rider’s practices on road safety in Kampala, Uganda

The objective of this study was to establish the influence of motorcycle riders’ (Locally referred to as “Boda Boda”) practices on road safety in Kampala, Uganda. Specifically the study determined the level of compliance of these riders to safety practices and also establishes both the individual and institutional factors influencing road safety practices among them. The road safety practices examined were two: Having valid Riding Licenses and Wearing Head Protection gear (Helmets) whenever riding.

L’usage des tic en contexte universitaire ivoirien: exemple de l’universite peleforo gon coulibaly (upgc) de korhogo

Digital technologies are increasingly at the heart of the strategies of African universities, which are the main pools of qualified human resources. While digital technology now offers opportunities to respond to new academic challenges, the deployment of ICTs in education raises fundamental questions including how they are challenged in teaching and learning by teachers and students. The objective of this study, conducted with a sample of 64 actors, is to understand the relationship that teachers and students have with ICT in the specific context of Korhogo University.

Research on the interpersonal function in zuckerberg’s harvard graduation ceremony speech

Halliday pointed out: People use their interpersonal functions to express their opinions, attitudes, identities and intentions, establishing and maintaining a specific society and interpersonal relationship. The graduation ceremony speech is a kind of public speech and one of the important components of campus cultures. Scholars from different fields have studied it from different perspectives. However, these studies focus on the analysis of speech skills, text structure or language style and those are less interpreted from the perspective of language interpersonal meta-function theory.

Solar photovoltaic as an option (alternative) for electrification of health care service in Anambra West, Nigeria

The study examined rural health care service in Anambra west with a focus on alternative energy source for its electrification. The study adopts literature search and a survey design; questionnaires were administered to three health centers, 13 care givers and 269 clients receiving care in the facilities. The data were presented in tables and analyzed with multiple regression analysis.

Effect of temperature and extended static time on rheological properties of drilling fluids

The drilling industry has faced a lot of problems due to the poor conditioning of drilling fluids at bottom-hole conditions thus, drilling fluid properties change owing to an elevated temperature and also the properties deteriorate under static conditions hence, affecting drilling operations. However, these problems may lead to non-productive time (NPT) thereby, increasing the cost of operation and it may lead to a kick or blow-out. Attention must be given to a proper selection of drilling fluid as well as effective performance of the rheological properties.

Biogas separation by polymer-based membranes

Generation of combustible biogas from anaerobic digestion of food waste is an interesting and developing alternative for the production of a cheap source of energy. In the present work, Torlon polyamide-imide based membrane films were studied for biogas separation. In pure Torlon polymeric membrane, the methane content increased from 62% in feed biogas to 94% methane in retentate. But, there was about 3.7% methane loss into the permeate stream.

Design of telescopic cascode single stage operational transconductance amplifier

In the recent years there is rapid growth in the CMOS technology, which made analog integrated circuits to dominate today’s existing market which provides low cost, and excellent performance of systems. Now-a-days wide band analog signal processing helps to find variety of applications in telecommunications and for the medical electronics. Since we prefer continuous time filtering for the low voltage, low power applications. An analog LPF forms the main building block in all of the systems.
