Broken needle during bone marrow aspiration: a rare complication

The conventional Bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy is a routinely done investigation under conscious sedation with rare complications. We present an atypical case of a 47 year old male who was diagnosed with a broken biopsy needle in an urban academic hospital. A removal in theatre under fluoroscopy was performed by the orthopaedic surgery team. At postoperative follow up, the patient was symptom free.

Qualite physico-chimique de l’eau consommee en milieu rural en rdc: cas de la province de la tshopo

The present work has for objective to make a survey compared of the physico-chemical quality of the consumption waters between the certified villages and no certified of the zones of health of the Province of the Tshopo, in DRC. To the total 2.646 samples of these waters have been appropriated and have been submitted to the analyses. On every sample, the debit, the temperature, the pH, the turbidity, the electric conductivity, the free chlorine, ions ammonium, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates and iron have been determined.

The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge regarding leucorrhoea and the hygienic practices among women in a selected hospital, Kottayam. The objectives of the study was to assess the knowledge of women regarding leucorrhoea, assess the hygienic practices of women, identify the correlation between knowledge about leucorrhoea and the hygienic practices of women and to find the association between knowledge about leucorrhoea and selected socio-demographic variables.

Status of iop in pseudoexfoliation syndrome and association of this syndrome with age factor

Purpose: To evaluate the status of intraocular pressure in patients having pseudo exfoliation syndrome. Study Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Duration and Place of Study: Department of ophthalmology, Mayo hospital LAHORE from November to March 2019. Methods and materials: This was a comparative cross-sectional study that included 25 patients having pseudo exfoliation syndrome. Out of 25, the 9 were males subjects, and 16 were female. The mean age was 43± 20.2 years.

Material characterization of exudates from Brazilian contemporary oil painting by ftir, py-gc/ms and sem-eds

Contemporary art has employed almost every single synthetic material created by man. Nonetheless, the appeal of oil paint is still present at most public and private collections. Oil paint manufacture has evolved over time along with its formulation and conservation concerns. A reported problem is the formation of exudates on contemporary oil paintings. This work aims to characterize exudates from the Brazilian oil painting “Três pessoas” (1999), by Marina Saleme.

Combined effects of climate change and anthropogenic activities on wetlands water quality

Abstract: Wetlands in the highlands, especially palustrine wetlands, are renowned with supply of water of good quality to streams, however, with observed extreme variation in climatic conditions- notably surging high temperatures and decline in precipitation, these wetlands’ function is threatened. The objectives of this study were to observe changes in vegetation cover across the wetland within two seasons- summer and winter, and to monitor water release during each season, aligning this with climatic variation.

Peri-operative role of proteases (bromelain + rutosides) in surgical patients- a prospective clinical trial

Background: Proteases are naturally occurring enzymes that have received traditional footage in medical treatment. Enzyme preparations have also entered modern medicine since 1960s. Trypsin, Bromelain and Rutoside preparations have recently boomed into the medical prescriptions, claiming a better resolution of inflammatory symptoms, thereby anticipating a faster healing of the surgical wound. This study aims to prospectively approach and determine the efficacy of these newer proteases with respect to certain fixed parameters of surgical prophylaxis.

In vitro antibacterial, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory activities of stem and root of tridax procumbens l.

In the present study, Tridax procumbens belongs to the family of Asteraceae was selected. Tridax procumbens was collected and the stem and root were separated, cleaned and dried under shade. The dried plant materials were ground well into powder. The 20g of powder of stem and root were soaked in 200 ml of benzene and diethyl ether separately and kept at room temperature for 48 hours and then the mixture was filtered and concentrated by using evaporator at 37˚C.
